I spotted this dear little black Bunny through the hall window and took a couple of photos as he munched away on some self seeded Marigolds. (sorry, but the window isn't very clean !) He's been around all day - I think he wandered in from the mass of Gorse bushes next to the garden wall and doesn't seem to know how to find his family !
PERRANUTHNOE is a small village on the South Coast of Cornwall, just East of Marazion, there is a Car Park and sloping access to a safe sandy beach and the beachside Cabin Cafe. It has The Victoria Inn a superb multi award winning pub, which serves super food both lunchtimes & evenings, - a Church dating back as far as 1160. The Lynfield Centre which houses The Cowhouse Gallery, The Peppercorn Cafe and a hairdressers.

Last day for dogs on the beach !
It turned into a lovely day, so as it was the last day that the dogs are allowed on the beach (only early morning & evening 'till October) we went down and were surprised to see these Hottentot Figs flowering on the cliff above the way down to the beach. Last Summer they just didn't flower !

Whimbrel
A lone Whimbrel on the front of The Marsh at Marazion this morning. Not much else to be seen, there were two Herons Way off across the reed beds, but no sign of the chicks in the nest. The rain then arrived so I came home.Tuesday, 28 April 2009
Stockholm
This nice vessel Stockholm came across in front of us this morning. She spent a lot of time around the South West last Summer. We're off to Falmouth via Camborne !
NDCC Admiral Saboia
Thought this one had beaten me - couldn't find any trace of it - eventually found it in Portuguese (thank goodness for Google translations !) The ship will be incorporated into the Brazilian Navy on 21/05/09 in Falmouth. The ship used to be the RFA Sir Bedivere.
RFA Argus
Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel Argus still in dry dock & looks like there's quite a bit of work left to do.
The Moat
Tilly just off to check if the notice board says "No Dogs" - it didn't, so off we went on the cheapskates walk around Pendennis Castle - literally - we walked right round on the footpath above The Moat. A really lovely walk with vistas opening up through the trees every now and then.
Every now and then there was an opening and we got a superb view of Falmouth Bay this photo shows the huge cloud that had passed over us when we were in Falmouth. It hailed and rained very hard and was very slow to clear. At the bottom of the photo is the roof of one of the old wartime buildings still preserved up here.
St Mawes Castle
As we headed home, we stopped off at Pendennis Point for an ice cream and at last the sun shone on St Mawes Castle. Small by many standards, but in such an amazing setting it's quite lovely.

Sunshine & Showers
Another day of sunshine & showers, with most of the rain passing across in front of us out at sea thus giving the nice shades of light & dark.
Really bad timing !
We didn't get far on our dog walk today as we were caught in a really heavy shower which looked like it was going to last too long for comfort !

It was busy out there !
It was busy in the shipping lanes today -quite a few had probably waited until yesterdays storm was past. To the left is one of the many Grimaldi Lines vessels that come past frequently. The tall rig is being towed by two tugs up to Heysham where I think there is a huge wind farm.
Whimbrel
Lots of Whimbrels around from Maen Du to Boat Cove. Their lovely calls not quite as wonderful as the Curlew but still adds to the ambiance !
Sun around The Mount
As I got to the point where I turn to head home the clouds began to part & a patch of sun appeared almost around The Mount.
Church Farmhouse
Came back through the village past Church Farmhouse to check on the Wisteria -just as well I did as it's almost past it's best. I think the colour of the flowers looks beautiful next to the old stone wall. This is in the lovely old protected part of the village.

A truly foul day !
The low pressure has hardly moved all day - took these two photos when the rain stopped for about 40 minutes & Jim dashed out with the dogs for a short walk - it started to rain again so they returned rather quickly. Once again the rain is lashing against the window - out at Lands End Weather it is registering over 50mm of rain since midnight - pity the poor folks who have been out searching for the lost two people from the incident at Zennor last night (see below)
Flash flooding at Zennor
A man has died and a major search is under way for two women missing after a car was washed off a coastal road during flash flooding in west Cornwall. The vehicle was swept away along with part of the road surface and a nearby building amid torrential overnight rain between St Ives and St Just on the western tip of Cornwall.
Four friends were in the green Volvo S70 car when the incident happened just after 1am. One of the two men freed himself from the car and raised the alarm. Emergency services found the "fully submerged car" an hour later but did not find the body of the other man until 7am.
The incident happened just after 1am on the B3306 at Zennor, a village on the coastal road between St Ives and St Just on the western tip of Cornwall.
It is thought the car became stuck in a swollen ford during thunderstorms that also brought flash flooding to St Ives where the fire brigade received "several" calls from residents for help.
The Met Office said the Isles of Scilly and parts of west Cornwall had experienced half their average monthly rainfall in 12 hours, but that the worst of the weather was isolated. Emergency services in Devon reported no problems.

Nasty night, nasty morning !
Just the opposite of my usual photos of Scillonian III as she leaves the bay. Today it's blowing a gale and the rain is crashing onto the windows. Stuck the camera out of the patio doors to take this just to show how bad it is out there ! She was on a late tidal affected start and will no doubt take a bit longer to get to IOS this morning.

Apologies for the lack of interesting and different photos - the weather has been very misty for the last few days and although it has also been quite warm with some sunshine, it's not a good scenario for photographyThe new pool cover has arrived, so I've been busy with that as it had to be cut to shape etc. We had to go to Truro this pm. and when we got back the weather had, as expected gone even further downhill ! The long range forcast is for high pressure to build again - do hope so !
