Monday in Mousehole

Looking along the harbour wall, which has taken such a bashing from the rough seas recently
Looking closer you can see that no matter how much water was crashing over, there are still people who just have to walk along to take some photos - we later saw huge  towers of water appear and crash down onto the idiots who were over there - could so easily have knocked them off their feet !
You can just about make out some much smaller splashes in this photo
These lights came on a little early - The Mouse is always my favourite
Not quite a complete Celtic Cross out on St Clement's Isle - amazing that it works at all after the terrible storms that have been pounding the coast
The giant snowflakes up on the hill, that we can see clearly from home
and this is my favourite view as you can see so many lights at the same time
Looking back the other way
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
Just as well they keep the cat away from the mouse
Stargazy Pie !
We walked right past this huge Robin high up on Raginnis Hill and didn't really notice it in daylight
A beautiful tableau up on the hill above the village
Sorry, must have breathed when I took this one - not very sharp !
One last one of the wonderful reflections in the water and the super dragon
The Newlyn Mermaid alongside the road as we drove back home

    1. Hi Bob, not quite as good as last year as the tide was lower and the water was disturbed - but I just love the reflections. Can't believe how many people were queueing to get there as we were leaving - we planned it right for once !
Hope to see you at Marazion Marsh sometime in 2014 - not the same now we've lost the car parking. Sue

  2. Thanks for posting the photos of the lights as we never made it there. We did walk over the causeway to St Michael's Mount, but that was as far west as we went.

    1. Probably just as well you didn't try to go to see the lights Lynn - need to plan it with military precision - the queue of cars was over 1 and a half miles long - and they were not moving as the car park was full and the road blocked as it's not very wide. Hence the fact we went in the afternoon aqnd waited for darkness ! Still hope you enjoyed walking to The Mount - such a pity it's closed in the Winter.

  3. Lovely images Sue, haven't been down at Christmas time for a few years, so enjoyed seeing them as I sit on the sofa, nursing a cold, bah! Cheered me up no end as do all your photos through the year. Wishing you all a Happy 2014. Jane.

    1. Oh dear, hope your cold is soon better. Seems to be really busy down here this year - especially since Boxing Day - they've certainly seen some different weather - from sunshine to raging storm in a matter of hours and then in the morning back to sun again !
We'll hopefully be able to keep walking the dogs and taking the photos and do hope that you are over your cold soon. Happy New Year to you. Sue

    1. Happy New Year to you and Alison ! Very stormy new year so far, been blowing again all night and the wind seems to be getting worse - gusts over 50mph again !
The Mousehole lights have needed a lot of attention this year due to the storms, but they did look wonderful and the atmosphere there is super.
Not sure about the "Prosperous New Year" I think the most prosperous folk will be the fencing guys as there's lots to be sorted both in Perran and everywhere you go !
Seems to be no sighns of some calmer weather at the moment - I'll try to put the Christmas Tree out of its misery ASAP and drop in down into the garden - its been through a lot !
Wishing you all a Happy New Year and hope to see you as we pass by in 2014 !

  5. Beautiful lights and the reflections are stunning....well done to the people who put the hard work in (and of course the money!) do they collect for charity ? The sea looked a bit 'angry.....' as for the idiots walking on the sea wall !!!!!! your walk looked lovely....super scenery. Thanks so much for a lovely scenic start to the year.macca

    1. So pleased that everyone liked the Mousehole Harbour Lights - they work for several months to get them all set up and the money raised goes towards the following years lights - it does wonders for the little shops and cafes etc at this time of year - they don't allow street traders etc to come and spoil the atmosphere - it's just the traffic that spoils it for many - we planned it better this year and the weather co-operated for a change.
So pleased that we did the walk yesterday as today its really grim with yet another gale and rain - should pass over in the next couple of hours.
Wish I'd saved some of yesterdays photos for today ! Sue
