Afternoon walkies

Always one of the first of the Winter Camellias to flower - this pretty pink one at the end of Greeb Way must be fairly sheltered from the winds
and just round the corner this Bergenia was looking very pretty

  1. Spring is on it's way. Flowers blooming in our garden, fingers crossed we don't get too many hard frosts and spoil them. Great photo's again, glad you had a safe walk. THANKYOU

    1. \yes, I noticed that the Arum Lillies are still looking very healthy - any frost will kill them off and they have to start all over again !
Feel sorry for the farmers though - they seem to be managing to cut the Caulis down here, but I gather further up they're not quite ready and are getting nasty deseases.
If only the fields could dry out a bit it's time to get those Early Potatoes in and get the polythene on them.

  2. Never heard of Bergenia, but it is very pretty. Camellias obviously come out at the same time in the UK and US as ours are flowering too.

    1. Bergenias are one of those plants that seem to flower at all times of year - they don't mind shade and seem to like a lot of moisture - the leaves dry up and go brown if it's very dry, but usually recover when moist again.
The Camellias that are out here at the moment are the Winter Flowering ones - they will be followed in a month or two by the wonderful Spring ones.

  3. ..Lovely photo's......especially St.Michaels Mount......no two pictures are ever the same.Had a look round the garden earlier one clump of snowdrops are out, primroses and one violet (it's certainly a shrinking one ! ) still a few roses too. Is Bergenia commonly called 'elephants ears' ?not sure..... we did have a lovely clump on the bank but it went 'walkabout'! hope you are ok after your fall. Thanks Sue.macca.
