Medical Emergency in Perranuthnoe

We got the shock of our lives when we heard a helicopter approaching and through the heavy rain and mist came this Sea King from RNAS Culdrose - heading straight for the house - it turned over our little field and went down towards the coast
Down on the out of use field by the coastal footpath were the Coastguards waiting to guide him in
Nasty conditions for all concerned - wind gusting at over 40mph and pouring with rain
After some time the stretcher was carried from the waiting ambulance across the very slippery field to the helicopter - with engine still running the downdraft must have been tremendous
Off the ground
 and off they went
Info. I have at the moment is that it was an accident at the pub - Patient has been taken to Frenchay Hospital. Nr Bristol, which has a Major Burns Unit -  so obviously a serious injury. We wish them well.

  1. That must have been a difficult landing with the gusting wind today, as well as those wires in some of your pictures.

    1. I'm sure they've worked in worse conditions Lynn - must admit that we thought of the wires as he came down - but the coast guards would have done a good survey of conditions and dangers and warned them. Thar field is really nasty and slimy after having been killed off ready for the potatoes - walking on it must have been tricky.
