Oh dear ! - just the one walk

Just the usual morning walkies as the skies darkened and before long it was drizzling or raining and it carried on for the rest of the day - well there was a short period when it wasn't raining, but I rather stupidly thought it was too early for the afternoon walk - then down came the rain again - poor dogs !

  1. When will it ever stop? It seems far worse than usual this year. I hope my new roof is watertight.

    1. Is your neighbour able to go and check if the leak has stopped ? Do hope it's OK - although the rain wasn't very heavy today - just didn't stop for long !
The Somerset Levels are in a terrible state - just nowhere for it to go.
Gather you're hot and dry over there - they showed the West Coast area on TV news the other night - weather just doesn't seem to be "normal" anywhere !

    2. Yes, too dry considering this is our rainy season. No snowpack either, so it is going to be a very dry summer for the garden. Watering restrictions will no doubt be reinstated. Today it is supposed to be 80F and there are red flag warnings in the local hills, which seems to tip arsonists off that now is the time to set a fire if you want it to burn westward towards civilization! I do not like this type of weather at all as you can feel skin and lips drying out, and the first thing I noticed when I arrived home last Wed was that the garden looked very stressed, particularly the trees.
I will contact my neighbour, poor man, and ask him to go run his hand down the landing wall and inside the airing cupboard to see if it feels wet. I know it might still be damp, but hopefully not running water as it was last Tuesday. The roofer says he replaced all the wooden decking and put in high performance three layer mineral Finnish roofing material (I don't know what that is either), so I trust it is weatherproof.

    3. The thought of fire when everything is so dry must be a bit scary- can't understand why anyone would think it's fun to set a fire knowing it might spread so fast.
Always sad to see the gardens getting dry and parched and not be able to water them. Does the restriction cover water for swimming pools as well ?.
Do hope that the roofer did a good job - and your wall is dry ! - more rain today and again tomorrow
