Poor Hetty the Yeti

After a check-up at the dentists in Helston, I made my way cross country to Hayle - I just had to stop and take a photo of this huge field of Daffodils - not realising that I had a deflating tyre, due to hitting what I assume to be a pothole hidden in an area of water at the side of the road. I arrived at the Lidl Car Park and then noticed the tyre. I phoned Skoda Rescue (RAC) and was told they would be 90 minutes - great !  Jim thought he could beat that and drove over, but sadly the anti theft caps on the alloy wheels got the better of him - what you need is a pair of needle pliers - which are not of course provided. Thank goodness I had a spare wheel as an extra when I bought Hetty, or I'd have been in a mess as the side wall of the tyre was ripped.  Job was done in about 10 minutes and off I went to M&S - well to be honest I went to Costa Coffee first  as I was cold and in need of a boost !

  1. I'm with you on that one Sue ! I don't need any excuse to stop for a coffee !(so i'm told!!.)........With the amount of water filled potholes about it certainly is a hazard .Came through the Fens yesterday lot of wet fields there. The wave pictures are amazing.....I would rather watch them than be on or in them !! Lovely sunny frosty morning here.....bit of a North Norfolk morning.....but to much to do ! bet it will rain when we can go !Thanks so much Sue.macca.

  2. Much calmer here this morning, but I can hear the waves still hitting the cliff as it's high tide.
and quite cool compared to the rest of the Winter. Fields are much too wet to carry on with the planting, so all the machinery has now gone. Bet there's a shower waiting for Jim and the dogs to venture out. Sue

  3. Hi Sue, just back from our hols and catching up with you. Re your tyre, we had a similar experience in January on the M5 near Bristol with a huge pothole in the middle lane. Ripped our front nearside tyre and we had to get rescued. I did contact the Highways Agency and apparently it is possible to put in a claim. Haven't got round to it yet, but these potholes can be so treacherous. Will be down to Penzance at the end of March, can't wait. Jane.

    1. It was my first ever proper puncture or blow-out in all my years of motoring - glad it wasn't on a motorway though ! The RAC message insisted on lecturing me on getting out of the car and standing in a safe place - even though I was on Lidl car park. he he !
Hope the good weather lasts until your visit - although it's been a bit cooler and greyer today. Sue
