The Mazey Day Cornishman

Spotted this unusual sight from the balcony at the shopping centre, so went along to take a look.
It was The Mazey Day Cornishman - wonderful restored old pullman carriages pulled by a 50 year old engine D1015 Western Champion. It had travelled down from The West Midlands picking up more passengers in Bristol.
Really knew how to travel in those days
As I stood there the engine pushed the carriages back towards the sidings as it would need to get to the front in order to pull the train all the way back to The West Midlands later today

  1. Good shots of the "Mazey Day Cornishman" at Penzance, lovely weather for it, not so good up here. Chris and I doing the "Torbay Express" soon, can't wait! Jane.

    1. We were so lucky today - didn't rain all day ! Spotted the carriages and went to take a look and met a guy who had travelled down on board - Early start 5am ish I think - he joined at Bristol and said that someone had clocked their speed at 97mph at one point ! Presume you will have the same carriages as they had The Torbay Express on them ! - hope you get a day like today ! Sue
