The most Southerly Point

We drove down to the Car Park as my knee was complaining a bit - but yet more steps ! Still we had free parking for the second time in a day !
The ships come much closer past Lizard Point  than we are used to seeing
Catamaran making good progress in the stiff Easterly breeze - sadly not many yachts around now
After a delicious meringue and a cup of tea we walked around the outside of The Lighthouse - this is the huge fog horn - which believe me is really loud
Close-up of the light
Bass Point with the white caps showing the strength of the wind
The Lloyds Signal Station on Bass Point.
The signal station was originally set up by Fox and Company shipping agents (the same Fox family that owned Glendurgan). The station was to communicate, by semaphore, with vessels entering the English Channel to convey information as to the market conditions and where their owners wanted them to dock.

    1. Thanks Chris, - Light was tricky - amazed you recognised it ! Like to see them closer - at home they're always so far away. Noticed a nice tall ship Kaskelot heading your way - just off Ilfracombe at the moment.

  2. Morning Sue,
again great pictures, thank you for that. We didn't manage to visit Kynance Cove this year, the weather was too good, so we stayed at Perran Beach most of the time. But years ago we walked along Lizard Lighthouse just at that moment when they tryed the Fog Horn, it's like an earthquake, believe me.
It is so wonderful, that you keep us all informed about Perranuthnoe and Penwith, once again a big "thankyou "!
    Take care
    Gerd

    1. Morning Gerd,
The weather at the moment is much better for walking - especially for the dogs - but still very warm out of the breeze. We've been doing our favourite things this week whilst the sun shines - it's work next week up at Oamaru, getting some more jobs done. It's been a bit like being on holiday as we've been trying hard to fit things in before our more normal Autumn arrives ! Sue

    1. My knee is aching a bit this morning - it really was very steep - it was a walk I had said over the years I'd never do - strangely getting more daring as I get older !
Forecast isn't looking bad for next week - just done an XC weather 7 day forecast for Brighton as an example and it's looking quite good - sunny periods rather than all day sun and with a mainly Easterly breeze/wind - just need to find some shelter ! Have a lovely time. Sue
