Penlee Lifeboat Open Day

We drove through Newlyn and parked around halfway between the old and the new Penlee Lifeboat Houses.   As we arrived there was the gig Portheras out for morning training
 Along with Pendeen Watch
Due to lack of space inside the boathouse they were allowing around 10 people at a time inside, so there was a small queue when we arrived
As we waited I took this - looking over the bay towards Perranuthnoe and Trebarvah
We felt it was a great privilege to be allowed to enter this boathouse which has been kept as a memorial to the men who lost their lives on 19th December 1981

The cable - ready to winch the boat - that never came back
The winch - still in working order I gather
The boards showing the services (shouts) of the RNLI Solomon Browne

Amazing to see how many people they saved

    1. So pleased that you enjoyed the photos - it was a good day - both to remember the heroism and then go and look at the superb boats that they have today. We were also very lucky with the weather as it was quite warm and bright - today it's rather cold and misty !
