Afternoon walkies

As we walked through the village I spotted that the Wisteria on the granite wall at Church Farmhouse is starting to flower - with a huge number of buds still to flower
 and this lovely Ceanothus
Dark clouds looming over The Mount this afternoon
 Boat Cove
The Alexanders have really shot up in the last week or so

Amazing how the hillside above the footpath has turned white in the last week as the Blackthorn flowers

  1. I like Ceanothus which seems to do well in dry old California. When we lived in Germany back in the 70s, our apartment's balcony had a huge wistaria growing along it and wrapped around the railings. it was beautiful in May. On our reunion trip last June, we walked by the apartment, and sadly there was no wistaria in sight. Someone had ripped it all out which must have taken some doing. The one in your photo looks quite a dark purple, but ours used to be a soft paler blue.

    1. Think I may have darkened the Wisteria a bit as the photo wasn't great - it is a beauty and the number of blooms is amazing. Oh to know how to prune them - we had a "blind" one in Leics. that never bloomed - then it surprised us and had a few, but then never again. Sadly it needed to be cut down as the balcony rail needed painting and like yours it wrapped around it with such force it bent one of them !
I think Ceanothus is known as Californian Lilac, so wonder if it comes from there originally ! Sue
