Wednesday - or Havoc in West Cornwall

The day didn't start well, Jim's Freelander was booked in at the garage in Crowlas up the A30 for work on the brakes.  He set off quite early (for us !)  and pretty soon realised that all was not well, the A30 had been closed from the Marazion roundabout all the way to the St Ives roundabout - due to a serious accident.  Fortunately we know the route to Crowlas via the little back lanes - but of course they were much busier than usual - scary stuff.  Sadly we heard later that the motor cyclist had died and that the lady driver of the car had been arrested on suspicion of causing a death through careless driving. In the end the road was closed for around 6 hours, but we managed to get Jims car back !
As we arrived back in the village, there was Andrew Baker risking life and limb to re-paint The Victoria Inn.
Jim then set off on a slightly late morning dog walk
Last years Lidl Hydrangea - what a beauty !
The Passion flowers are at last flowering a little lower down on the wall
A few shots of a beautiful looking Mount's Bay - still a bit breezy, but probably sheltered down on the beach
From the top of the hill at Trebarvah

Pleased that we've got big dogs - or you could lose them quite easily
 Group of Kayaks setting off
Offshore Supply Ship Sentinel Star arriving in the bay
 Beautiful Agapanthus at The Dubban
A little more cloud this afternoon and it was windy up at the top of the hill
Sentinel Star at anchor off Newlyn
The two Rheas, that guard the hens - sadly the plants are growing too big  and one was hiding !
That's what I call a Super Yacht - official name SY Huckleberry probably on charter, she came in from Fowey, via The Helford.  She is anchored for the night off Mousehole
The moon over Cudden Point this evening - a bit high in the sky

  1. Exceptional photos today, Sue, and such a variety of subjects. I do hope that the painting of the pub goes off well. I wouldn't like to be up there without a watcher. The coastal shots make me so homesick to be back and to admire the color of the sea.
That was a horrible start to the day with the motorbike accident, and also very sad that the rider lost his life.

    1. We've been really enjoying the "proper" Summery weather that we've had recently - although there's still a cool breeze. Don't know where everyone went yesterday, but the traffic wasn't bad at all. 20,000 at Culdrose Air Day would have accounted for some of them ! Possibly tha last of the glorious weather today then back to changeable - pity !
There has been talk of making the junction on the A30 where the accident happened safer - traffic lights sound like a good idea, but will just back up the traffic and cause another big tailback and there's possibly not room for a roundabout - this is where Cornwall Council wanted to put a Park and Ride for hundreds of cars - which would have had to use this junction - bonkers as always !

  2. Come down to Withey we got shots of moon over Cudden point. Hoping it's clear on Friday with full moon. I may however be sat on my bench trying to communicate with the rest of the world!
