Sunday - our day in Porthleven

The morning started with mizzle, but I had some hopes it would improve when I saw the sun shining onto Mousehole
We drove to the car park that is close to the Penrose walks and set off with the dogs for a walkies as they would then be on the lead for the rest of the day
The chimneys and engine houses of the Trewavas Mine
Lots of lovely dogs around today  this little puppy really took a shine to Tilly
Loved this Launch of the Porthleven Lifeboat - big push
 then down she goes
 with the usual splash
 Big splash this time
Then wait to be winched back up
 The Porthleven Town Band
The Lugger Happy Return - later in the day they held a service of Rededication which was conducted by the Rev Julyan Drew on board Happy Return. Happy Return was built in 1904 at Kitto's Yard, Porthleven. After the service the Cape Singers gave a public concert of traditional Cornish songs aboard Happy Return

Looking along the beach as we started to walk back to the car
We stopped off in Helston to walk the dogs in the shelter of the Cober Valley
Not much water at the moment
Lots of Indian Balsam as it loves the damp areas - another escape that should not be there
Never seen fish in the river before - sorry not good at fish identification

Thought this Robin looks a bit odd - it's a juvenile just getting it's adult plumage

  1. Hello Sue,
to me it looks as if the first fish is a roach (rutilus rutilus) and the second one a kind of trout, may be a lake trout. Anyway, lovely pictures as always, especially the one with the flying lifeboat.
    Take care

    1. Hello Gerd, Think you're right about the fish - we met a couple of elderly gents that siad that there were Roach and that people had told them there were Trout - presume they were heading down river to Loe Pool.
Decided to delete the flying lifeboat photo as have been told that they get into trouble for having both screws out of the water - bad for the engines - mind you in those conditions it wasn't intentional ! Sue
