Penlee Coxswain Patch Harvey preparing to board the Lizard Lifeboat Rose
Job done
Rose is retrieved up the ramp -
Second Sea King arrives from Culdrose
Down goes Rose
Winchman on his way down to collect Patch
Was getting really windy by now
Up goes Patch (yellow suit) with the Winchman
Into the Sea King
Ivan Ellen into the wind preparing to receive Patch
Sitting on the edge
Quite a ride - but down he went onto the stern
Winchman now being lowered onto the Falmouth Lifeboat
Lots of waving by them and us today !
Up goes the Winchman
Such a lovely sight that we'll never see again
One final wave
final fly past and then they were off back to Culdrose
Penlee Lifeboat Ivan Ellen heading back - must have been a very bumpy trip around Lizard Point and over Mount's Bay
Dear Sue,
ReplyDeletethank you so much for this wonderful row of photos, it's a shame that HMS Seahawk has to stop the SAR Service, nobody knows what the future will bring! Will a private company do the service in the same proper way? Any way, all the best and good luck to all involved.
See you next year.
Gerd
Pleased you enjoyed the photos - was a wonderful if rather sad day. So far the privatisation of many services has been a disaster - we'll just have to hope that this lot know what they are doing - lives may be at stake ! Best wishes for the New Year, hope to see you both then ! Sue & Jim
DeleteAmazing images,a piece of History in the making.
ReplyDeleteJohn.
Hi John, It was quite an experience to see the three lifeboats together and then the Sea Kings - seen one come past today - just one more day - then into the unknown ! Sue
