A grey and damp morning as Jim took the dogs up the hill
I drove to Penzance in the rain, which fortunately stopped just as I arrived
There were two little Turnstones running about just below me, around the edge of the HarbourI walked alongside the harbour and spotted the Cape Cornwall training gig Longships with what appeared to be a novice crew on board
Scillonian III still in Dry Dock, but looking ready to go !
Doors back on and painting all done
Hmm ! a bit scratched already - assume they dropped the anchor to paint it !
Bottom all finished and anodes back in place
Along the road and the dock gates are still out of action
Ringed Plovers down on Battery Rocks
I was looking for the Purple Sandpipers that are often down on Battery Rocks, but all I did find was this lovely gathering of Dunlin (I think !) and more Ringed Plovers
Onwards to Jubilee Pool - I gather that not much is happening at the moment
I then walked up Chapel Street past the wonderfully named Admiral Benbow - with its guard on the roof
Seems to manage to withstand all the bad weather
After my bit of shopping I walked back towards the car and looked out from the balcony at the shopping centre and saw there were some good waves for the surfers down at Long Rock - I was going to put my shopping into the car and walk along and take better photos, but sadly I was already over my parking time - oops !
Just before dog walking and the bit of brightness was being covered by dark clouds
Still, at least it wasn't windy !
Thought I'd say a big "Thank you" on behalf of both the village folk and the visitors, to this super young lady, who has been keeping the Car Park Toilets clean and fragrant for the last three months
Work has started on the extension to The Cabin Cafe - it will of course be open as usual during the work !
Nice selection of your visit to Penzance. How I wish it was just a short flight to visit! Even eight hours would be better than twenty!
ReplyDeleteIt really is such a long flight and you'd want better weather than what we've got and what is forecast - just no end to the wind and rain and therefore mud ! ! Sue
