Wanted to take the dogs for a walk as they've missed so many walkies recently due to the weather. It was still gusting at over 70mph as I walked them through the village and down Boat Cove Lane
It was really difficult to walk in these conditions, but the dogs didn't seem to mind - this was Basore Point with the tide quite well out
I turned and walked back up Boat Cove Lane and took this looking down at the coastal footpath with walkers taking photos of the waves over The Greeb rocks
Looking down on the windswept angry sea around The Mount
I popped into The Cabin Cafe for a coffee and then went down to the beach - lots of sand has been washed out again
As I turned this way my face was sandblasted by the still powerful wind
I drove down to Sainsbury's and on the way back called in at Marazion Junction
I was again blasted in the face by the sand blowing in the wind, but managed a few photos
It started to rain, so I made my way home
Thought you'd like to see the state the windows are in, with the salt spray being blown at us for the last few days
Relatively small container ship Samskip Endeavour that has been cruising around the bay all day waiting for the sea conditions to calm down a bit - she has now gone round Lands End
Showers, this afternoon, so we nipped out in between two of them
The tide was well in and the sea was still really wild
Some massive splashes over towards Trevean
We got as far as Mean-dhu Point and could see the next shower was moving fast
We had to turn around and walk quickly home
A bit of a sunset
Dentist for me tomorrow - so the dog walking is up to Jim
Well done Sue for all your wonderful images of "Imogen". Sad to see on the Cornishman site that the big tree by the Wharfside car park was blown down, been there for years!
ReplyDeleteHope it calms down for out visit next week. Jane.
Pleased you enjoyed the photos - didn't feel like going further afield (Porthleven) as the wind has been causing toothache and the wind was just so strong it wasn't pleasant to try to walk in. I called in at the car park today and took a photo of the tree - such a pity as it looked so lovely and healthy - possibly that was the problem - top heavy ! Much calmer now - but chilly and very very muddy - never seen it quite this bad before ! Sue
DeletePhew ! the power of the sea ! Spectacular pictures...Scilly too ! Richard's studio certainly looked vunerable, hope there wasn't to much damage on the islands. Thanks Sue for braving the elements! macca.
ReplyDeleteThink Richard is OK for the moment - at least he has the new one above the gallery now. Think his house might be vulnerable as well. Hopefully we won't have another storm like that this Winter. Have hung the lovely calendar you sent up on the wall by the desk and am using it to put the bookings for Oamaru on. Many thanks - it looks great and it means I can glance and check the bookings and whether they have a dog etc. ! Wish these showers would stop - really tricky getting the timing of dog walks right ! Sue
