Another foggy and damp morning - Jim took the dogs for a quick walkies past the Butterbur covered in droplets
Just up the hill and down again
The sun just catching Scillonian II as she sets off for Scilly
Summer rain on the cobwebs !
We then set off to visit my sister Pat in Liskeard - the A30 was busy in both directions, both with cars and of course the many tractors at this busy time of year for the farmers. We assumed that things would improve when we got to the dual carriageway near Camborne - but more tractors meant that we were only using one lane most of the time. We eventually got to Chiverton Cross roundabout where I was nearly taken out by a car coming straight across in front to try to get to the Perranporth turn - he didn't make it ! We then joined another queue, thought we'd got moving again then saw yet another queue of possibly 2 mile just to get to the Carland Cross roundabout - almost 1½ hours and we weren't past Truro yet ! We decided to turn left to Goonhavern and after a coffee stop returned home along quieter roads - Sorry Pat, we'll come to see your lovely garden when it's not so busy !
Poor dogs had been in the car for 3 hours, so we went to Friendship Woods and gave them a run
Wooster deep in thought about the fact that it usually only takes 10 minutes to get here !
They enjoyed the change of scene - hadn't been for a long while
The peaceful scene looking from the woods over to the hills towards the North Coast
Still a mixture of brightness and black clouds when we got home
Some nice sunny patches and St Ives looked lovely on the webcams
The cheerful workers planting the little Cauliflower plantlets in the field next to us
This used to be a little Fuschia bush - this year it's taller than me
Think I may start an award for the worst parking in the village - there'll be a lot of contestants ! Both on the pavement & on a corner Hmm !
Lots of people still in the gardens as we walked the dogs - looking like little ants
One moment it was quite bright
The it was all rather dark
We realised that the next shower was well on its way
The shower on the hills behind Penzance
Moving quite fast - as did we !
End of the day !
The shower passed by and we had some more sunshine
Hissy Fit a 15 metre Catamaran was moving well across the bay
No sunset as there was far too much cloud to the West
Oh dear, sorry to hear you didn't make it to Liskeard, you wouldn't have done any better if you tried to come our way, the traffic here is absolutely ridiculous. The by pass is gridlocked and the little back roads that we know, everyone local know as well and then they get clogged up. Thanks for keeping us up to date with all that's going on around your area, and taking us on your lovely walks. Hopefully September time will see the roads quieter and then we will hopefully visit the village. The weather is certainly suiting a lot of your and our garden plants, trouble is the unwanted plants (weeds) are liking it as well, can't keep up with them at the moment. Thank you once again.
ReplyDeleteHi there, It was a pity we didn't make it, but I should have known better to attempt it really, but Pat is so thrilled with her garden after years of living in a flat with a balcony that she wanted us to see it at its best ! Never mind ! Traffic worse than we've ever known it - we're hoping to walk to Marazion on Sunday as they're having the first ever Lifeboat Day there and on The Mount then on Wednesday the Man Engine comes to Godolphin - wonder if you managed to see it as it passed through St Austell. Ah well ! Better get on with todays photos. Sue
ReplyDeleteYes Sue, we did walk up to the town to see the Man engine, the size of it has to be seen to be believed, absolutely massive, and all the transport to carry it of a similar size. Goodness knows what the weight will do to our already potholed roads. on the other hand, we are very proud of our mining County and it should be celebrated. Hopefully your sister has a camera and can send you some photo's of her garden, she must feel like she is in heaven now after being in a flat.Looks like the weekend is going to bring some sunshine, so enjoy, get that Bbq going, make the most of it while you can. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteDid some lovely spicy chicken on the barbecue tonight !
DeleteMust admit I'm wondering how they will get the big trucks & Man Engine to Godolphin - really narrow tree lined roads - might be fun ! Sue
