Tuesday

First thing and it was like living under the helicopter version of the Heathrow stacking zone -Not sure what they were doing, but hope it's not a regular thing
View must have been spectacular on such a lovely day
Really really hot this morning, so just a short walkies again
 One straight over Jim
The first sign of cloud
I barbecued the last of the Hake in the freezer last night, so set off to drive round the bay to Newlyn
Trelawneys had the usual wonderful selection of all things fishy
Two pots of The Real Cornish Crab Co. crab went out the door whilst my Hake was being filleted
Comical ! On the blackboard at The Star Inn
Some of the Crab or Lobsters are in for a long trip in this Vivier lorry - huge tanks to keep them happy
Spotted Patch and crew just returning from a shout on the Penlee Inshore Lifeboat to assist  a single handed sailor who had engine trouble and needed assistance to get into Newlyn Harbour
 A panorama of the harbour
 Slightly hazy Mount
I had parked in the Duke Street car park and went into the Duke Street Cafe, now looking great and run by ex. Victoria Inn manager Dave Scotter
Forgot to say "no sprinkles" but coffee was good and the cake was amazing - huge slice so I ate half there and wrapped the rest to eat at home !
Still had time on my parking so went for a wander
Excellent still lying alongside at the end of the Harbour
Lovely sight of this female Mute Swan and her three Cygnets in the Coombe River
"Summertime and the living is easy "
well it is if you are lucky enough to live opposite the super Tolcarne Inn - good pickings from the customers I gather !
Fishermen's Memorial - known as Tom keeping watch over the harbour
Jubilee Pool - getting over the excitement of the official opening yesterday by Prince Charles
The Coombe River heading out to sea
Very little water coming down at the moment
It was cooler this afternoon and Tilly was feeling perky and persuaded Wooster to play pulley for ages !
Afternoon walkies and there were lots of clouds
Layers of them making some strange shapes - rather like a mountain behind Penzance
Now a volcano !
We had a few spots of rain, but nothing more
Dark clouds were moving away, leaving some brightness
Bloody-nosed Beetle - if alarmed it exudes bright red blood from its mouth - this has a burning taste so birds learn to leave them alone

Nose to the wind and ears back !

Noticed this patch of purple flowers just below Maen-dhu Point - couldn't go down there as the dogs are forbidden to go down there !
 Lovely Gatekeeper butterfly posed beautifully
Tide had been well in - fortunately the sea was calm
Sun was still trying to appear
We've just got one rosette on the bromeliad   Fascicularia bicolor on the rockery - sometimes get more later on
 Nice sky later on
But the sun was still struggling
Reflecting onto the clouds above Trebarvah
No sunset - just a red line

  1. Hello Sue, just wanted to say that doesn't look like a bromeliad, looks like a Fascicularia bicolor. Thanks for the lovely pictures.

    1. Knew someone would put me right - thanks - always struggle with it - it is a member of the Bromeliad family - same as some of the house plants you see in supermarkets. Many thanks Sue

    1. A little cooler here today - but still over 100f in the pool house with all the windows open - managed to get some work done in there - but just too hot. Think you might have had some thunder and lightening today - missed us completely ! Sue
