Lovely fine start to the day
Dogs just had a quick dash up the hill as we wanted to get on the road !
Guess where we were ! The road works at Temple - not as bad as they would have been on Saturday - but we were heading further up the A30 to Werrington Park near Launceston - in fact only around 2 miles from where Wooster was born and less than that from the River Tamar and Devon. There is a Country Fair every other year which we like to attend. No controversial photos - a Country Fair is about all aspects of country life - but don't want any rude comments ! !
Just a few photos of my favourite part - the Falconry Display - Waiting for his performance this lovely Harris Hawk
Wondered why it was so noisy - it was only 17 weeks old, just a baby really - non-native captive bred bird
The beautiful and very fast Peregrine Falcons
Jonathan Marshall and one of his beautiful horses - this one is in the latest Lloyds Bank advert where it appears to walk through an office etc. All done on a treadmill with a green screen ! He also has two pure white horses that appear in Game of Thrones
Some Dressage moves
Then in comes the Harris Hawk
Shouting away as he is launched
Tends to land on tents and anywhere he chooses really !
Time for the Peregrine Falcon to perform - it was amazing flying high and wide then zooming in on a stoop towards the lure
The finale was for it to fly right through the horses legs - the lure being held in just the right place and pulled up at the last moment - The Peregrine missed the first time
Incoming the second time
and through it went - almost too fast to see - had to keep finger on the shutter and hope !
Having done well, he gets the meat on the lure
Keeping an eye on the pesky dogs in the audience
Guarding it well
We then walked along to the shooting area where there was Clay Pigeon training and a competetion. Didn't realise that neither of us took photos of the dog scurry etc - we were busy chatting
Nice little lake as we walked back out to the car - thought I'd taken photo of the beautiful but very hilly site where all the cars were parked - not for the faint hearted, but at least it was dry this time - last time we went they were having to tow lots of cars out
We then stopped off at Cardinham Woods near Bodmin to give the dogs a proper run as they'd only had a few minutes off the lead all day.
When we got home we spotted the lovely old vessel Leader heading for Newlyn
What a another lovely day you have had, beautiful photo's, thanks so much for sharing. Hopefully a good week weather wise this week, surprising how quickly though the evenings are pulling in. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteWe really enjoyed the fair - sad that we don't have more of that kind of day down here - just one small fair at the end of August - the others are all steam fairs ! Noticed this evening how early the sun had set - oh dear ! Sue
