Isles of Scilly holiday continued - Friday 16th June

I know that some of you are not interested in Isles of Scilly photos, but some of you are devoted to The Islands and for one reason or another are not able to visit - so here is another day - just a couple of days to go
Walking along The Strand which was already closed off for the Start/Finish line for the Ötillö Swim/run race on Saturday
Such a wonderful view

Off-Island cargo delivery vessel Lyonesse Lady - so often overlooked, but very important
Onwards on a really very hot day to Juliets Garden - we stopped off for Lemon Drizzle cake and tea/coffee  - of course !
Super view of Bishop Rock Lighthouse over the end of Annet
A little engine sound and there she was sweeping in
on a fast arrival
Star Castle Hotel and our room in the low building to the left
Onwards round the Island and Tilly managing the steep climb over the top
Another lovely bird - no idea !
Walking along St Mary's and looking over to Round Island Light
Spotted a small orange flag marking the exit point for the Swim/run folks
Such a lovely spot out here
With the marker on the beach for them to enter the water for the swim to Tresco
Got a surprise when Scillonian III appeared having done a very quick turnaround
Halangy Down Ancient Village and Burial Chamber
Usually a favourite spot for a paddle, but too much seaweed for our two fussy dogs
Jim trying to get Tilly in to cool down
The Day Mark on St Martins
Wondered where the Pilot Boat had been
High Tide at Bar Point
That's where he'd been - super small but luxury cruise ship Variety Voyager with passengers boarding Sapphire at the stern
Datura in the amazing garden at the top of Holy Vale
Holy Vale Vinyard
We then took the rather hidden footpath out of  Holy Vale along to the newly opened Longstone Lodge and Cafe - lovely tea and cake
and lots more on offer

Really wish them well in their new venture
Back up the hill once again
Sunset

Too many clouds for a green flash

    1. We had a lovely chat with Juliet - we also remember them serving food from the shed. We were complementing her on the fact that the Gulls seem to have given up now - she doesn't need her "super soaker" very often now ! Still got our day on Bryher and the final day to do, but like to keep up with the daily ones as well/ Sue

  2. Thank you so much both of you for your wonderful photo's of the Islands. Very envious, hopefully one day I will go back there, but we have so many happy memories that will hopefully never leave us. What a fantastic holiday you had, think it would have been too hot for me to do much walking, Tilly did really well in that weather. Lovely lunch today in Victoria Inn, unfortunately the drizzle started and black clouds so we didn't take a walk around the village, hopefully down again soon.

    1. Hi Betty, We walked past Richard's old Studio, but not past his new Gallery and Studio as we didn't have much time and it was too hot to walk far as Tilly was really struggling when on the lead. Got the photos of that day still to do - hopefully tomorrow. Dogs both enjoying the slightly cooler weather now as well as their own beds ! Sue

  4. Thank you so much for the wonderful pictures. We have been frequent visitors to the islands but not this year. Juliet's garden was always the place to go on our last day for lunch and she would make us sandwiches and cakes to eat at Exeter services on the way home. You put sunshine into every day even when it is raining or foggy so thank you again for taking the time to share your photos.
    God Bless Howard and Beverley

    1. So pleased you enjoy the photos - still the day on Bryher to do, as well as Jim's photos. It's always so hectic when we get home and I still like to do the usual "diary" as well. Weather back to more normal Cornish weather today fog/mist/sunshine in no particular order - but we love it ! Sue
