Saturday

Fancy piece of machinery cutting back the hedges on the parking field
Looking lovely over there towards Lamorna, but we were heading off a bit further West - to Porthgwarra as we have no changeover today and Saturday is the best day to go as since Poldark it's far too busy any other day
It was lunchtime by the time we arrived so we shared a pasty and Tilly just had to watch us eat it !
 Off we went
We had hoped that some of the Heather would still be flowering and although much of it was past its best it was still looking good

Only the third Peacock butterfly I've seen so far this Summer
Spotted this threatening cloud coming right at us - and we got totally soaked through to the skin - fortunately it wasn't too cold and we knew that as soon as it was past the sun would dry us off
Super Stonchat
Dogs still very wet, but didn't seem at all bothered
Longships lighthouse - with the NW wind catching the water beyond
My favourite spot - we've sat and had a coffee just watching the water here
Everything was looking so wonderful today
Was struck by how time passes and things change - a few years ago it was Wooster on the lead as was to fast and furious to be near these high cliffs - now it is Tilly as she is getting rather unpredictable, but can still move rather to quickly for us
I'm quite sure that this is the cow that chased us a few years ago when she had a calf - and she had one today
Still quite small, but fortunately all the cattle moved away
Super Kestrel stooping down and out of sight
Looking down to Porth Loe & up to Gwennap Head

Looking back down towards Porthgwarra
Porth Loe with the wonderful rock formations
Cargo boat passing Wolf Rock Lighthouse

We went back to the cafe to tea and cake - sadly they have a Wasp problem - they seemed to go for the cream teas so they put a spoon of jam to lure them away from those trying to eat - it worked !  We had the Coffee and Walnut cake and it was scrummy !
Marine Discovery's Shearwater II passing as we set off again
Looking down into the cove - now famous after appearing in Poldark
Looking down into the cove as we climb up  to walk to Gwennap Head
Super colours in the water today
From the top we got a slightly better view of The Isles of Scilly
The NCI Station (National Coastwatch Institution) Keeping an eye on all shipping out there
Just a few of the hundreds of Gannets we saw today flying low over the water

Looking over the clifftops to the Lands End Hotel and Visitor Centre
Two super boats came round Lands End
Walking back down towards the Car Park
We were hoping to get a closer look at the two boats so found a good vantage point high above the cove
Very friendly Seal
relaxed
Just lolling around
There they are passing the Runnel Stone Buoy
Not long after we were treated to Scillonian III heading back to Penzance
Nice end to the day

    1. It was gorgeous - apart from the torrential rain and hail for about 10 minutes - comically we only dried out on the sunny side, so had one wet leg and one dry leg. Dogs were very brave as we were out in the middle of nowhere. It was really windy but we didn't think it was cold but some did. Still a day to remember - we don't go out as much as we should. Sue
