Wednesday - The day the Beast From The East Arrived - rather early

The cloud that had been moving to the South of us yesterday was starting to rise towards us and The Lizard had already had a blizzard early in the day
Still it was looking fine
But very cold - water feature frozen in the shape that the wind was pushing it
From a bitterly cold but still sunny Trebarvah where I had gone to meet the chap who was going to do the PAT Testing for me
But then it all went wrong the snow arrived with a crash of thunder - I'd read about Thunder Snow but didn't think we'd get it
No view from the front door of Oamaru
Not the usual holiday property photo
Still looking rather special
A clear spell so that I could take some photos
Snow on the beach
A snowy St Michael's Mount

It was looking obvious that no one was going to arrive in this weather. I attempted to drive out of the farmyard but Hetty the Yeti started to slide as I was going up the slope and onto the road, so I reversed and parked her back in the parking spot. I wouldn't have been able to get up St Piran's Way anyway, so she's safer where she is
I had taken boots and my walking pole so wearing 2 jumpers and my warm old Dufflecoat I set off down the hill

A bit of a worry as this was approaching
Through the old spoil heap looking very different

A panorama of the amazing view today

I'd eventually managed to get hold of Jim to tell him I was walking down  as he needed to unlock the gate - He and the dogs came out to greet me
Wooster was rather over the top with excitement as he's seen no real snow in his life

Tilly wasn't that bothered
Cudden Point looking amazing with the wind on the other side
Photos taken from the corner patio
Perranuthnoe Churchtown  - looking just beautiful

The dark snow clouds still moving to the South and every now and then we got another heavy snow shower

The Church looking really beautiful with a snow covering
Wonder what the garden will look like when it all thaws
The Courtyard with snow covered palms

A hill with snow - what more could they want
Still frozen this afternoon
Took this to show the snow being blown off the roof by the gusts of wind that were frequently 50-60mph
I took Wooster out up the hill - Tilly had been a bit shakey/trembly during the afternoon so she stayed at home - wearing  her jumper indoors today

Snow surfing

The end of the day - more of the same expected tomorrow

  1. Thanks for braving the elements to give us a glimpse of Perranuthnoe in the snow. Looks wonderful, but that wind looks bitterly cold. Glad you got back home safely after your hike down the hill. Love the shots of Oamaru, the village, church, Cudden Point etc.
Hope your lovely garden survives the snow and wind.
Keep warm and enjoy the views from inside. Betty

    1. Sadly more expected today as a storm comes up from the South and meets The Beast from the East - not sure how bad it will be as they got yesterday so wrong - just expected light snow Sue

    1. It's our turn to get the worst of the weather today - storm from Bay of Biscay is approaching and is going to meet the beast and then - more snow ? Red Warning for Somerset & Devon - we'll see if they're right on that. Sue
