Yet another fine looking morning, which unfortunately went the way of so many days recently, with huge dark clouds looming up and dropping very heavy showers, one of which caught me and the dogs and since I hadn't gone very far and I couldn't see the bottom of the cloud, we headed for home.

We dried off and this time I took them in the car down to the beach and we walked out East towards Cudden Point, getting caught by two more showers. Looks like we're all going to get a lot colder in the next week !

Just a few of the surfers who had arrived in Perranuthnoe this morning. I heard from one of them that there had been a pod of Dolphins out there this morning - darn it !

The dogs disturbed this Crow on the footpath and when I reached the point where he had been standing there was his lunch - a recently killed Rabbit. Fortunately the dogs failed to notice it as they were watching the Crow and I assume it went back to it once we were gone.

Lots of sunshine this morning, interspersed with very heavy showers. looking across Mount's Bay towards Mousehole it is very clear, with lots of whitecaps caused by the NW wind.
Our Microwave stopped working last night, so we set off to Penzance early this afternoon. As we drove down the Marazion Bypass, all hell broke loose, the hail smashing onto the car, sounding as if it was going to break the windscreen. It coated the road surface very quickly and anyone with any sense cut their speed right back, as we carried on towards B&Q the road was really white and very slippery and when we were on our way home the A30 East from B&Q to the next roundabout was closed and there were police everywhere, so I assume there had been an accident.

There were more heavy showers after we got home from Penzance, but Jim managed to walk the dogs round the Ednovean to Trebarvah "circuit" without getting wet.

We needed to go to Penzance amd stopped along the prom so that I could nip out of the car and take a few photos. With the wind gusting 35-40mph it wasn't easy to stand still. Not much hope in the weather forecast for anything better in the next few days.

Think these are Paper-White Narcissus ( I'm sure Phill told me last year !) They must have been grown as a crop in this field as they come up in the Cornish Hedge in several places every year.

With a total bank of grey clouds I was amazed to see that the sun had found a little gap and was shining on Penzance waterfront - well for a few minutes it did !

As we took the footpath that climbs back up to the Trenow track, I turned around and took this which shows the whole of the spine of The Greeb Rocks exposed by the low tide

Yet another of our Bottlebrush bushes is in flower, hope the weather doesn't suddenly get frosty !

Whilst it's not so surprising to see some of the Spring flowers out, it's very unusual to see this Lampranthus, which I neglected to spot yesterday when the sun was out as I'm sure the flowers were open then.

We awoke to a glorious morning, with a clear blue sky and a tempting looking beach appearing. We decided to give the dogs a treat as we don't go down there too often as Wooster wants to play with every dog he sees !

Work on the Perranuthnoe sewage system goes on - they've dug a really big trench and as we passed a large pipe was being lowered in - later one of the big Clearflow tankers came to pump out the tank again - just as well it's January and the village isn't busy !

Spotted this RIB zooming across the bay - looking right into the sun I could see part of it was orange and thought it must be the RNLI inshore RIB the Paul Alexander, but looking at it on the PC, I can see it's not - unless it's been altered since I last saw it - but it was a lovely morning for a trip out in Mounts Bay !

They came in towards the beach and slowed for a minute or two

Whilst Jim and the dogs were clambering along the rocks I took a look in the huge number of rock pools, looking for Anemones, think that the build up of sand has covered lots of them, but I found these that were waiting for the tide to cover them again.

After lots of searching, this was the only one that was in a pool and open

Wooster greeting little Petal the latest pup in the village and as we walked past the car park, there were lots of both people and dogs heading down towards the beach, so we had timed it about right !

Anyone who knows me will say that I'm normally never speechless - but the sight of this old TV apparently dumped by the side of the road down at the Car Park, did really stun me ! Possibly someone had put it into one of the big wheelie bins and then the bin men had removed it, but really it's not what you expect in Perranuthnoe ! !

Another gloomy start to the day, when I took the dogs down to the garden I noticed Trinity House Vessel Patricia was busy out at The Mountamopus Buoy - she's probably lifted it onto the deck in this grainy photo.

The sea was lovely and noisy today and the waves got a bit larger as the tide came in and then some surfers appeared. We took the dogs down to the beach for a run about, they always enjoy themselves down there.

The sun shining on the fields of Daffodils behind Ludgvan. There were huge numbers of pickers in the fields alongside the A30 as I drove back from my shopping trip - as with much of the country everything is much earlier than usual.

Just after nine O'clock this morning this 49 metre long fishing vessel Phoenix came across the bay. She's come all the way from the Faroe Islands way up North of Scotland. I know they do fish much further South - she had come round The Lizard from Plymouth but is probably waiting for the weather to improve as the forecast is not good.

A fairly windy and wet night brought a few surfers down this morning, but since it was so wet everywhere I decided to get some of my many tasks done that have been waiting for a long time to get done !

Down on the parking field the men are still digging away with a now rather large pile of soil appearing - not sure if they're putting in a new tank - seems a lot of work for a new pipe. Hope they make the field good again when they've finished.

We took the dogs to Godolphin Woods for the afternoon walk, we walked right through and out onto a large field which has a footpath all around the edge, taking this photo of Godolphin Hill as we made our way round. On the far side we disturbed some nearby Pheasants who made a lot of noise and got the dogs very excited !

A very distant shot that I've cropped in rather too far - but it shows Waterfall a catamaran that calls itself a "High Speed Craft" on its AIS - it certainly wasn't high speed going straight into the strong SE wind as it set off from Penzance/Newlyn heading for Plymouth

We needed to go towards Marazion this afternoon, so we took the dogs with us and parked at The Cemetery so that we could do the circular walk towards Trenow and back - the sky was still very dramatic and the wind was very cold - but I'm sure it did us good !

On the National Trust fields near Boat Cove, Trenow this tractor was ploughing ready for potato planting - unfortunately and very unusually for these fields, he was turning the tractor on the footpath and making a right mess of it - we've always been impressed by the way they have left the footpath unscathed in previous years.

Another big beach and it was nowhere near low tide, we were going to take the dogs down later this afternoon, but we had to wait in whilst the windows had their first professional clean since we bought the house in 2005 - yes I have done them myself and when the builders were here it wasn't worth it - but this morning he was doing next door, so I collared him to give ours a go. We've got a lot more windows since he last did them, but these new long pole water washers do a great job !

The guys from May Gurney are putting a new pipe between the pump and the huge tank of you know what ! (I think !) and the potato planters were really going for it today.
