"HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE"
All pink & grey early this morning.
Looking quite red over Trebarvah, but not long afterwards the grey clouds covered & it stayed like that all day.
Penzance Harbour this morning, looking rather grey, with a very cold wind again from the East.
This large barge/crane has been worked on since I last saw it.
Note the little Christmas Tree on the top just to add a festive touch ! !

Tuesday 30th December

I was so busy, I forgot that I'd taken these three photos on Tuedsay.

A nice start to the day, but still a very chilly Easterly breeze.
Not quite as perfect as Keith's Camellia, but spotted these two bushes happily flowering in quite a sheltered spot. I suspect they are a winter flowering type, as we had a similar white one that was always out at Christmas.

Another dull & grey day - this tanker Excelsior has been anchored in the bay near Porthleven for some time - she's been slowly moving around in front of us all day, but is now back at anchor again. A sign of the times I suppose - there are now four vessels over to the East, with only one listing a destination - Houston on 30-12-08 - I don't think she's going to make it on time !
Just to prove that I saw them - a couple of Great Northern Divers (I think) sheltering in Boat Cove this evening. In the dim light - a slow shutter speed & the divers bobbing around I just couldn't get a decent one !
You looking at me ! ! !
Gry Maritha heading out of the bay on the high tide, hopefully with lots of goodies for the Big New Year Bash over on IOS on board.

Saturday, 27 December 2008

It's quite a steep climb from the house to Trebarvah.
It's worth the climb, the bay looking good this evening.
The sun disapeared behind a long line of dark clouds, but managed to light up the clouds above

The beach this morning

Got to the beach & wondered if everyone had gone to the sales !
Lots more folks arriving now.
These Retreivers were having great fun - didn't manage to tempt Charlie & Tilly into the water though.
Local riders down for a gallop on the beach - pity they don't carry a shovel & large "poo" bag !
Nice sea today !
Larger waves every now & then - must be some good surf somwhere !

Friday, 26 December 2008

Took this unusual shot of the illuminated cross on the church - it's had a somewhat easier stay up there than the first week in gales & strong wind.
It's after 5pm & still looking super
A cloudy start - could the weathermen be wrong - then the sun tried to appear & by 10.30 the clouds had broken & the sun was appearing more & more. So it was off to the beach for a good long stroll before lunch - lots of families & dogs were enjoying themselves down there.
A few families on the beach & a few more having a warming coffee at the beach cafe.
By the time we were leaving it was busy.
These two brave folk heading out this morning - tricky getting over the waves
A bit of swell this morning - they didn't stay out long- suddenly came back to the beach when I was down the other end.
All the labradors headed straight for the water - you don't find a Pointer doing that !
Perranuthnoe from the beach this morning
These little planes came over in close formation - wonder if they were heading for Isles of Scilly ot just doing a scenic tour !
The occasional nice wave, but the surfers must have found better !
Action shot of Tilly managing one of her better catches
Tilly hanging on to the ball - just in case Charlie picks it up !
For Keith & Liz - Charlie still trying to catch Tilly but really enjoying himself.
This 14 month old Labrador was very keen to take up surfing
Tilly bringing the ball back to Nick
So good to see the sun today and yet another sunset

Gone ! but the red turned to orange and stayed around for over half an hour

Wednesday, 24 December 2008

Sorry to have been missing for a few days - the weather has been grey & miserable & we've been busy moving back upstairs - it's unbelievable how much stuff we had to carry upstairs, never felt quite so exhausted ! - but, it's good to be back with the super view from up here, even though it means re-decorating the downstairs. Charlie Pointer wishes to make an official complaint about the stairs - as he's a long dog & has trouble getting the legs in the right place !

So pleased you all enjoy the photos, we'll try to get out and about more now, to get a bit of variety - in the meantime Happy Christmas & hoping we all have a Happy New Year !
"Beam me up Scottie"
Lots of holes in the clouds producing all these bright spots.
Nearly made it to Perranuthnoe - then it disappeared as quickly as it arrived.
Ah well ! someone saw a sunset - but at least we nearly saw the sun today !

Friday, 19 December 2008

Jim took the dogs down to the beach & a totally unexpected pink sunset appeared quite suddenly.
Tilly doing her impression of a "devil dog" in The Omen !
Charlie looking festive in his coat !
The sea is just starting to look pink !
Everything started to turn pink !
Phill - this was the sky over here - quite amazing !
Just beautiful !
