Dalmatian Pelican at Loe Pool. Nr. Helston

After we got home yesterday, I saw that we should have carried on along the path to Loe Pool as the Dalmatian Pelican had returned and was last seen on a sand bank - in front of the bird hide. We drove to the upper car park at Penrose and walked to the right spot and there it was - apparently fast asleep, for quite a while, then it stirred ..

 Then there was lots of preening - with that beak it could reach any part of its body !

Such an odd looking bird - rather out of place amongst the Cormorants and gulls - quite sad that it doesn't seem to be heading back to Europe

After lots of preening down it went again, so we left it in peace
