Enemy number one !
The parent of these cuties actually swooped on a neighbour hanging out washing and split open her scalp last year !
Eleven Basking Sharks
We had eleven Basking Sharks arrive early afternoon and they stayed around for hours. Moving left and right along in front of us. The last one went round Maen Dhu Point just as we were heading out with the dogs this evening - really good being able to watch them from up here through the 'scope or binocs. Must have been an amazing amount of plankton in the water to bring them in.8.30pm just noticed that there are still two in the bay

Didn't manage to take any decent photos on our dog walk on the beach this evening, due to a person trying to insist that one of our dogs had fouled the beach.
They would not believe us when we told them that we always, and I mean always, pick up anything they do, but that elderly neutered dogs crouch when they pee and we can't pick that up !
It ruined our walk and what should have been some good surfing photos as there were some nice waves out there !
Sorry for the rant, but it is something I feel very strongly about.
Here are a few photos I took on Saturday evening and didn't have time to post !

Acton Castle
A close up of Acton Castle that often appears in photos the distance. It is now divided up into very smart holiday apartments.
The Penlee Lifeboat, the Ivan Ellen
Just as we were leaving for the Open Gardens, the Penlee Lifeboat the Ivan Ellen arrived off the beach for an exercise with an inflatable (I thought in was the inshore lifeboat at first, but don't think it was big enough or the right shape !)
Sunday - Open Gardens, Perranuthnoe
The weather decided not to be as kind this year and the showers promised for around 4pm arrived around 11-15am - but not to be put off there still seemed to be a huge number of visitors, these included, Val from Helston and K & T from Mid Cornwall who are regular visitors to the blog and it was good to meet them. We sadly did not manage to get round to all the gardens this year, but we made sure we got to some of the new ones and one or two favourites from previous years. Charles and Christine from Ednovean Farm had kindly allowed the use of their field for parking this year which eased the pressure on the village lanes and the Food being served in the garden of Churchtown House was really good and the music was very atmospheric.
Blue Burrows
A really wonderful garden this, especially since it had to be started completely anew after Blue Burrows was completely rebuilt in 2001. Resident dog Heidi the West Highland Terrier behaved impeccably and seemed to be enjoying all the visitors (as long as they didn't bring a dog !)
The Garden of Churchtown House
Even though it was chilly and at times a bit damp, the Tea Garden was very busy and the food was really good with musical accompaniment by a variety of entertainers
West Cottage
A real favourite this one - just shows with a good garden designer (their daughter Emma) what can be done with a relatively small space. Climb the steps and you find a superb area for relaxation with this lovely view towards Cudden Point
Wheal Neptune
As I have driven past this house on the lane, I had never realised what a beautiful garden was set just above me with this super sea view past the Trachycarpus fortunei
The Survivor
We walk past this Agave on one of our dog walks and after the frosts & cold winds it was looking pretty rough from the other side - but it's growing on well.

Penzance Harbour this morning
This peaceful scene was in stark contrast to what greeted me as I arrived up on Market Jew Street - I knew it would be busy, but the crowd was massive and lined both sides of the street from top to bottom as they awaited the first parade of the day.
Not exactly Cornish !
No not exactly Cornish, but their lovely pipe & pan pipe music sounded quite magical as it was broadcast right down the Street.
The top of Market Jew Street, Penzance
I don't know how many people were gathered in town this morning, but as you can see it was busy ! Taking photos tended to mean being pushed around, bashed by endless rucsacs etc - wish I was taller !
