The Stereden Va Bro

Not sure exactly what kind of sailing vessel this is or what the name means, but she sure needs some work before she ventures out.

  1. Dear Perranlady,
the "Stereden va Bro" was built in 1954 as a Camaret (Brittany/France) Tuna Fishing boat and still has its breton name, meaning "Star of the Home" or "Home Star" or in french "Etoile de Pays".
It was sold in 1980 to a Mr. Rouse, was refitted by Bob Cann from Brixham and worked as a crabber from Newlyn till it cought fire on the 8th June 2002 near Runnelstone.
The Sennen Cove Lifeboat "Owen & Anne Aisher" went to help and rescued four crew and extinguished the engine fire.
It was sold by the insurance company to somebody with the user name "deckie learner", (a nice picture of the vessel is on www.trawlerphotos.co.uk) He is still restoring it as a Gaff Ketch.
Well, that's what I found out via internet, hope it helps.
Best regards, may be we meet in Perranuthnoe in summer, we are there the whole july.

  2. Gerd, Many thanks for the information - I usually try to do a search, but did not have time yesterday. She was out in the bay today - but too far away for a photo & she turned and went back to Pz. I'm sure we will meet in July - we're easy to spot with the two Pointers alongside us ! Sue
