Goodbye to Cliff House

We were just leaving on a trip to Falmouth when I noticed that the heavy mob had arrived down at Cliff House. Looks like our view is going to change for ever as I doubt if it's going to be too difficult to knock down.

  1. We have many happy memories of Cliff House, esp. our three holidays during the last years.
Thanks to Dave who made the holidays possible.
Sitting warm and cosy in the living room, seeing and hearing the sea banging on the Cliff on a stormy day only a few yards away is an unforgettible experience. Looking down to the "busy" beach on a bright sunny summer day, go down only a few steps for a swim or a game on the beach, unforgettible.
Having a chat with Jean and Peter, unforgettible.
And also, the wet and muddy floors of Cliff House after the great flood on August 17th, 2004, that's also unforgettible.
Let's hope that Cliff House will rise again like Phoenix from the ashes.

    1. Hi - Just found your comment - Cliff House is of course long gone now and re-built - quite a lot larger !
The old one was unfortunately built of a product called Mundic which was made on mine waste - some is better than others, but unfortunantely there could be a large metal content which rusted and rotted away. Properties are usually un-mortgageable and these days those of the lowest quality are knocked down as once they start to crumble you can't repair them - I'll take a new photo when I next go past ! 3. I've heard that this Cliff house has been rebuild in to a new and larger one. That's really nice to know and it would be great to stay there if it is only affordable. Still, there are Holiday Lets in West Cornwall that would be really great to stay to.

  4. Hi - Thaks for your interest in Cliff House. We rebuilt the house as close as we could to the original, with a slightly bigger kitchen to the west and a gable in the main bedroom.....and a few meters further back from the sea. It is now a well insulated, mundic-free property, that should give lots of people lots of pleasure for many years. We have made it available for holiday lets this year through Classic Cottages http://www.classic.co.uk/holiday-cottage/desc-2789.html - There are lots of photos if you fancy a nose!
    Best wishes

    1. Hi, Seems like a long time ago now, I had spotted that Cliff House was being let this year - having just bought one of the barns up at Trebarvah for letting we have been doing a lot of "research" We of course look down on Cliff House from home, so were able to watch as it was built. Hopefully it won't have to withstand another Winter like the last one for a few years. Sue
