Now that the polythene has been removed, the dangers of driving a tractor across the fields in West Cornwall can be seen - this hole had opened up underneath the covers - but I gather it is probably too small for evidence of mining - more likely an old drain. The larger mineshaft is elsewhere in the same field covered in a layer of soil.
