With a very good weather forecast, we decided to head for Mylor Yacht Harbour which would be sheltered from the on-shore breeze. We were amazed to see this huge new Mylor Yacht Club building costing over £1million, which will incorporate the Cafe and Windsport shop. Alsongside this construction there is also to be a new shower block for berth holders and visitors to the harbour and the lower car park is being raised by 1m to prevent the high water flooding disrupting operations.
Not sure that the ultra modern style of the new building blends with the ancient church next door - Planning eh ! you can never seem to tell what they will pass !
The history of this area goes back many hundred of years - "originally the most westerly Naval Dockyard and victualling station in England, then home of HMS Ganges and the Packet ships and centre for the French Resistance during the Second World War, Mylor, now home to the last fleet of Oystermen under sail, is a haven for water-lovers of all types, whether you enjoy crabbing with the children off the pontoon, cruising local waters or racing further offshore."

went down there last year and was amazed by the amount of Grey Mullet feeding under the pontoons!
