PERRANUTHNOE is a small village on the South Coast of Cornwall, just East of Marazion, there is a Car Park and sloping access to a safe sandy beach and the beachside Cabin Cafe. It has The Victoria Inn a superb multi award winning pub, which serves super food both lunchtimes & evenings, - a Church dating back as far as 1160. The Lynfield Centre which houses The Cowhouse Gallery, The Peppercorn Cafe and a hairdressers.
I think it's quite sad.
ReplyDeleteWhen we come down each year we see another bit of our favourite place disappear. I've just looked at a picture I've got from the same angle from 4 years ago and it's amazing how much has changed.
Even the rock pools on the beach, which I remember when I was first taken down to Perranuthnoe by David 12 years ago have gone.
We only need to look at the fact that Cliff Cottage has had to be moved back from the cliff edge to realise how real this is!
Hi Susan, Don't think Cliff cottage is much further back - just a lot bigger and supposedly safe on long piles driven into the cliff - only time will tell! At least that side of the cliff is protected by the rock armour - but further along to the East it's very vulnerable to a big Southerly storm. The beach does change every year - in the Spring the sand was really high, but then some of it washed away - as it does. Sue

Hi Susan, don't know if you'll see this - I didn't look back again to see your next comment - They could only move the build within it's own plot which would have made it too small - they have built the house over the area that had the garage on, but since the house is so large we think it's almost as far forward as before.
