Our friends in Germany have yet again managed to solve a query that I just could not do !
Trixi has discovered that this double arch rock is in fact Black Church Rock on Mouth Mill Beach, Nr Clovelly, DEVON - No idea how she managed it, but Congratulations !
No wonder none of my many internet searches could find it. Pity that ITV didn't do their research better. I'm suprised that Devonians havn't been complaining about it appearing on a program about Cornwall ! But perhaps they haven't been watching anyway - I've almost given up !

Hi Sue, Trixi told me the story about finding the rock yesterday morning on the phone. As you may know, Trixis husband is a photographer and he bought a british photo-magazine some time ago. Trixi read something about a new photobook in that magazine, title of the book: "New South West Coast Path Photo Book" by Adam Burton. She had a look on the internet and found one as a bargain, ordered it and had it a few days later, had a hasty look through, and, guess what, yes, found the rock named Black Church Rock in the section between Clovelly and Hartland Point.
ReplyDeleteYou write, that you wonder why they show a rock from Devon and locate it in Cornwall.
There is no reason to wonder, TV Guys take what they get and use it if it's convenient.
May be you know that German TV has done already more than 100 TV movies based on Rosamunde Pilcher novels, they use a steam roller to make a film of 90 minutes out of a 6 page short story. And so, everything from Lands End to the borders of Dorset is sold as Cornwall, nobody cares.
Anyway, there are lots of places in Cornwall that we love, but Perranuthnoe we love most!
Take care
Gerd
Thought it looked like North Devon after we had our holiday there last year.
ReplyDeleteHi George, I thought it did as well - but since it was a program about Cornwall you'd expect it would be Cornwall ! Sue
