Since the dogs needed a good run before we got home, we turned off the coast road at Morvah and headed for the moors again - finding another missing dog poster that we'd missed, we walked up the track to Men-an-Tol (there should be ^ over the e in Men. but I've no idea how to do it !)
As you can see it was looking a bit different today, with lots of grey skies, although it wasn't cold and it didn't rain (for a change !)
I read somewhere that this is the correct way to take a photo of the stones - it still says 101
No wonder there's so much bad Hay Fever about, just look at the grass up on The Penwith Moors - looking more like flowers than grass.

  1. Great photos of St.Ives and surrounds. Must get busy there, especially in the holiday seasons.
Men-an-Tol must be ancient. Looks like it's in an isolated spot.
Thanks for giving me a feel for the area from where some of my ancestors originated.

    1. Hello Betty, St Ives does get very very busy in the height of the season(if we're going to get one of those this year !) with huge queues to get in & then to get out. Saturday can be the best day as it's changeover day !
Looking up Men-an-Tol it is thought to be bronze age, but has possibly been adjusted in the 18th Centuary - there are signs of lots more stones under the turf which might have formed another stone circle.
If you go to the top left of the blog & type Pendeen in the white box & click on the magnifying glass it should find any entries I've done in the past of Pendeen - scroll down & take a look - when we get a really fine day, we will go over & take some proper photos for you ! Sue

    2. Thank you for the information about Men-an-Tol. There could be lots of interesting archaeology around that remote area. I should do some research. Also, thanks for pointing out your look-up section. I will use it again for some other places pertaining to the ancestors:)
Hope your weather starts to improve soon. I guess it's mid-summer now.

    3. Should be mid-summer Betty, but today is really chilly & damp again and the forecast isn't too good for the rest of the week. We'll keep on trying to make the best of the better days we get. Sue
