A trip to Porthgwarra

The forecast was not so good for today, but there were supposed to be sunny intervals, so we bought sandwiches & cold drinks and took a flask for a cup of tea and set off fairly early (for us !) to head through Penzance and out to Porthgwarra. The road out that way is so busy at this time of year and very tricky going from wide to narrow all the time, so Saturday is the best day as it's mainly changeover day, so usually quieter. Sadly when we got there the weather was not as fine as it had been at home and with much thicker cloud the wind felt rather chilly.
This is why we wanted to visit Porthgwarra during August - the Heather and Gorse mix together to form this wonderful carpet of colour
As you look higher up, there is far more Gorse than Heather and what Heather there is has mostly finished flowering
Some patches were really stunning
