As we arrived home, Le Diamont was, - well, sort of puffing her way out of Mount's Bay bound for Dublin
A much better photo of the other side, from Mike in Mousehole,
Another nice walk. Surprised you were able to see the Isles of Scilly! How far are they from the mainland? The church at St.Buryan is quite large for a country town. It's interesting how the Weslyan churches, or chapels, don't seem to have a tower. Some of them are large in the photos I've seen. Some of my Cornish ancestors were Methodists in Australia. I have read about the impact John Wesley had on Cornwall.
Morning Betty, just checked and The Islands are about 20 miles from Porthgwarra - the sea trip is of course longer due to having to sail along the coast from Penzance. The height of the coast at Porthgwarra also helps ! Presume that the church at St Buryan serves quite a large community around the town - we've always thought how large it is - the churches were usually built with a high tower so that they could be seen from the sea - to "guide the flock home" As we drive around West Penwith we certainly see lots of old chapels - sadly many now disused or turned into homes.
