We had a really beautiful meal at the Victoria last night, Jim had Pheasant & I had Hake - both delicious
We awoke to already strong winds, but as the main band of rain was due later, Jim took the dogs up to TrebarvahThe muddy path to home - they just got back before it started to rain - not the main event, just a tease to make us think that was all - around lunchtime down came the real rain - phew with the wind gusting up to 67mph and the rain lashing against the window, the main patio doors in the lounge leaked for the first time since we bought the house. Water pooled all along the bottom, so lots of kitchen paper was needed ! Although the wind dropped and the rain lessened, it was almost dark so no walkies for the dogs - who were not impressed !
Lands End Weather clocking the 67mph gust
The Met Office chart showing the main area of rain - the pink being the heaviest. Pity all the poor folks who were flooded yesterday and getting all that rain again today. More forecast for Saturday.Looking at the TV coverage, yet again we were so lucky down here, although the wind was at its worst, not much damage and as far as I know no flooding compared to up country.

Poor you! We had the wind this afternoon but nothing like your strength. Glad to hear you had a good meal at the Victoria... we'll be frequenting the inn when we come down. Only a week to go!
ReplyDeleteSea is still roaring away tonight, hate to think what state the footpaths are in after all that rain. Don't forget that Stewart & Anna from The Victoria have now got a new restaurant in Porthleven http://www.thesquareatporthleven.co.uk/ just hope this weather improves. Sue
