Jim took the dogs out and found that the torrential overnight rain had created a stream running down the footpath. The water was running off the field above the house and down alongside the garden wall then along the footpath - Jim later went out and dug a small trench to direct the water down the side of the field.
Still lots of rain laden clouds, but the really heavy stuff had moved up country
Hi Sue, those Echium's are looking good on the path, did they seed themselves there???? I think it may be time someone invented wellies for dogs,;-)) and that weather you said went up country decided to fall on us, it was horrendous,it was running down the hill outside our bungalow like a full flowing river. Many thanks for the wonderful photo's.
ReplyDeleteThe Echiums self seed from the ones above them in the garden - we will probably have to transplant the small ones into the garden, but since they might start to block the footpath they will probably have to go - sad as they always look so lush and seem to be very protected down there. Trouble is they take three years to flower over here, whereas only two on Scilly and the wind often knocks them over just as they're ready to flower !
DeleteGot a lovely mental picture of Wooster in Wellies - somehow I don't think he'd keep them on for long, Looking at the forecast I think we're going to be wet, wet, wet ! Hope it stays outside your bungalow ! some awful scenes of flooding again yesterday. Sue
