A wild, wet and windy day, but we were up early to remove dogs and TV from the lounge ready for the Carpet Fitter. With the dogs in the lower lounge, the fitters arrived and we went down to the garage for them to collect the lounge carpet - Whilst there I noticed that the hall roll had two damaged sections, but we didn't need all of that for the hall (it was ordered the same width to match the colour) we though we would be ok. They put all the grippers down and the underlay - unrolled the carpet and it was 5" too short ! ! ! So, as we can't use the lounge - the dogs would damage the underlay with their claws - we're living downstairs again as we did when Wooster was tiny. The PC is in the dining room and strangely getting better broadband than it did in the lounge
No idea how long we will have to wait and Mark the poor carpet fitter has had a wasted couple of days.
The rain had reduced down to a light drizzle for a while, so we drove down to the car park and I rushed down to take a few photos, the wind was gusting just short of 50mph so I hid behind a Tamarisk bush and took these, looking over the garden of the Beach Hut Cafe. We then carried on to Godolphin Woods where the dogs enjoyed a good run - although we all got wet !
I feel for you. It's bad enough with all the upheaval but when it goes pear-shaped it's a real nuisance. Think of when it's finished. It won't be long.
ReplyDeleteThose waves look fierce today.

Hard to believe that they could get it so wrong, such a pity, it's the dogs that feel it most as they're confined to the Kitchen (upstairs) and the lounge downstairs, so they're very confused.
DeleteWind has gone round to NW which means we get some shelter from the higher ground behind us - although it means that the huge leaves on our Canariensis Palm are thrashing onto the roof of the lounge downstairs. The sea was very rough and I struggled to hold the camera still when I came out of the shelter of the Tamarisk bush. Sue
Oh dear..the best laid plans (or carpets in this case!) how frustrating for you you, just feel so helpless.Never mind it will be lovely when it's sorted.Certainly a bit rough out there today....what a workhorse the"Gry" is...certainly a life line for the islands.Hope you are sorted soon.macca.
ReplyDeleteGry took around 6 hours to get to Scilly - hope someone bought the crew a beer in The Mermaid ! Steamship Co have advertised for a large number of seasonal workers for both SCIII and airport etc. obviously hoping that bookings pick up and they will be busy !
DeleteLooks like you have the wet weather (or snow !) your snowmobile might have to turn into a boat when it all melts ! Sue
What a pain,Sue! The inconvenience of it all! Certainly looks rough out there. Wouldn't want to venture out to Scilly Isles in that weather!
ReplyDeleteFires here have calmed down now with some nice cool days and showers. We are in for a cool week with temps. max of low 20sC
It is a nusiance, butwe're lucky to have the downstairs lounge to sit in, and we slept in one of the bedrooms down there so Wooster & Tilly didn't worry.
DeleteThe wind is coming up again tonight and it's raining - we're in for a nasty week if the forecast is correct.
Saw on the news that Queensland has had floods - the world's weather seems to be all wrong at the moment !
Pleased that your weather has cooled down - temperatures in the 20's sounds wonderful to me. Sue
