You seem to have the most stunning sunsets day after day. Do you ever see a green flash? People here claim to see one just as the sun slips below the horizon, but I never have. Maybe we will go to the beach tomorrow as after our Arctic blast last week, we have had a day with temps in the top 70s.
ReplyDeleteAh, the elusive green flash - they are seen more frequently on Scilly, where the sun sets over the sea for many watchers - and probably from the North Coast - whereas apart from mid-winter we always see it set behind hills. Even though it's not yet a month since the shortest day, as you can see it's already setting behind the land. Hadn't heard about your arctic blast - isn't that unusual for Ca.
DeleteYes, very unusual for such a long period of cold weather. It was bright and sunny, but the air was very cold, colder than New York, so probably a lot of frost damage to citrus. I suppose the jet stream was coming directly south for a few days. At any rate our tomato plants have frost damage, but that was all.
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean about the position of the setting sun now.
Always sad to get frost damage, plants often struggle to recover.
DeleteWoke to our first ice - on windscreens and on the fountain - strangely no white frost on the lawn. Looks like the very cold weather in the UK will go on for quite a few days more - Chaos at Heathrow etc
