Rather murky shot of the beautiful Bessie Ellen heading out past Mousehole & then East across the bay this morning. She came up from Spain to Scilly the other day the came to Newlyn/Penzance.
She was a hard working West Country Trading Ketch for many years, but is
now a sail for pleasure vessel for those who love a genuine old wooden
boat.

What a beautiful craft,I just love to see the lovely old Wherries on the Broads, and the barges on the canals, over the years we have seen some wonderful wooden yachts on 'Scilly,so elegant.macca.
ReplyDeleteShe is a beauty - I'd spotted her AIS in St Mary's Harbour, but owing to the misty conditions had not seen her come into Newlyn as she had not got her AIS on. Fortunately they have a facebook page so I knew they were still around. Love to see this kind of vessel on Scilly as they look very in keeping with the surroundings. Sue
ReplyDeleteJust found your picture of Bessie Ellen.I was on board at the time, having come up from Tenerife. As you can see,she had lost the top of her mizzen mast, hence no mizzen set. This happened before we left Tenerife!
