We'd been hearing a Woodpecker for most of the walk close to the house and just before we got back to the car there it was - Jim grabbed my camera and took loads of shots, sadly it was focusing on the branches in the background - but you can see it if you sort of screw your eyes up a bit !

  1. Wow,

I've only ever seen one at Centre Parcs by the time I'd grabbed the camera and enticed my nephew away from the window, he'd gone. Not much bird life up here since we've got about 8 inches of snow! Nice to see someone had nice weather!

    1. Oh dear ! I'm feeling guilty again - the last couple of days have been quite lovely, usually until the late afternoon when the clouds seem to really build up.
We've seen Woodpeckers before in Leics. as we walked the dogs in woodland quite often - must admit that this one looked very small - must be our eyesight getting worse. It was making quite a lot of noise at one point and we heard it's call as it flew to another tree !

  2. We are lucky we do get a Woodpecker in our front garden, usually on the silver birch it's a bit rotten so we always know when he's visited by the debris ! We get the green one on the back lawn he 'drills' holes everywhere !lovely to see at such close quarters....as I said we are lucky.(pity I can't say the same about the weather,it poured all day yesterday and guess what? it's still cold and miserable!)Never mind I have just had a wonderful trip to Cornwall !! thanks Sue .macca.
