Everyone seemed to be snoozing or just standing around down on Marazion Marsh, no sign of Mrs Heron, who must have been well down on the nest.

  1. Good morning Sue, nice picture of the little Egret.
Last week I saw a Egret (great white Heron) here in Bochum for the first time in my life. Today Carola found news and a picture of it in a weekly newspaper which is too extensive to read all, and they say that white herons migrate more and more from the south into Germany.
May be we should start migrating as well!?
    Greetings to Perran

  2. Good morning Gerd,
I can well remember seeing my first Little Egret - on a visit to the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, we wandered along the footpath and there it was paddling in the creek. Quite amazing that they're now such a common sight here in the UK.
We get an occasional visit from a Great White Egret ot two, but they usually head back South again.
The migration pattern seem to be changing - I suppose with the climate, but it does enable us to see birds that we wouldn't usually see.
You certainly chose the right time to visit Perranuthnoe, the weather hasn't been great since then - lovely sunny but cool day today - sadly looks like rain tomorrow. Sue
