We set off to go to The St. Buryan Rally - of aall thinks Steam, Classic Cars & Tractors etc.
As we mmade our way along the ever narrowing road there in front of us was one of the exhibits a Buick Le Sabre - not exactly suited to these roads - other cars had to stop to let us through and it was good to see the drivers smile at the sight of this big car - the steam engines on this road must have been a super sight !
Really enjoyed all your photo's ....what a variety!! My brother had an Austin 7 like that ! he had a puncture one day and four American servicemen stopped to help and lifted the car up while he changed the wheel !! love the Jubilee pool we had our first swim in there in 1965 when we were on honeymoon !!thanks Sue.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you enjoyed them - we felt it's a sure sign of age when some of the cars you remember as new and trendy are now Classics !
DeleteSister Pat and I used to sit in the back of the Austen Seven and if it rained hold a cup under the sunroof as it leaked a bit !
There was a Ford Cortina there like the one that Jim's Dad lent to us for our Honeymoon since Jim's company Ford Anglia was near the end of its 2 years and ready to give up ! Sue
Love it !!our first car was a Morris 8 series E convertible !!!! I do believe I used to do the cup thing too ! We came on honeymoon in our Ford Anglia ( sit up and beg I think they called them !} Those were the days !! I do like comfort these days !!! macca.
ReplyDeleteThey do all look a bit spartan inside compared to the modern ones and the Austen Seven looked so tiny - but then I was smaller as well ! Sue
