We arrived at The Heron Inn - only about 2 miles from the centre of Truro
With a view like this of the meeting of the Truro River and the Tresillian River it seems like a world away- with hardly a breath of wind it was almost too hot ! Why is it called The Heron Inn ?
Part of the Heronry on the opposite bank of the Truro River
We have seen more than this in the past - no Little Egrets today
Enterprise III bringing her passengers into the jetty - she goes right down the Carrick Roads to Falmouth & back
She can only make it to Truro at high tide, so a bus brings the next passengers in by road and takes the others back - not much room to turn it around in this crowded village
Off she goes back down to Falmouth
I remember doing the boat trip with my mother once and we had to take the bus into Truro to meet my father who had driven there for a haircut. I think we ended up going back to Malpas to the Heron Inn too for lunch. The publican at that time was a Mr Calvin Kneebone who used to work with my dad earlier in the sixties.
ReplyDeleteI have never been down to St Clement though, strange as that seems, but I am sure I would like it as it is as peaceful as the creeks around Feock and Trelissick where we used to live and I spent my happy sixth form days.
St Clement is a super spot - the loudest sound when we were there was the church bells for a wedding ! Jim used to walk there every day from Tresillian and oftern right around to Malpas & back.
DeleteWe've still not done the boat trip - we mean to every Summer - then we don't get one !
