Golly! Another supermarket? I thought there were a lot in that area already. How do they all make a living? However, I must admit I am partial to Sainsburys as it is where I did my weekly shop when living in the UK.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anybody really wants it Lynn - forced upon us by the sale of the heliport. There is a rumour, which I really hope is not true - that Morrisons are thinking of closing due to the extra competition. I'm surprised that Sainsbury's want to build down here - the Helston Store is not exactly busy - and I doubt that this one will be.
ReplyDeleteHelston Sainsbury's store is a bit out on a limb as I remember. Did go there once and it was empty.
ReplyDeleteSadly they're all down the road at the newly built large Tesco.
DeleteI think that times were so good for the Supermarkets that they were just grabbing land and building new supermarkets without proper research into what the local situation is. I suspect that as things are now they would not be buying the land & building a new store, but they were committed before things got so bad and they all lost business to the European stores like Aldi & Lidl.
