Rescue near Cudden Point

I'd been hearing helicopter noises when I was swimming and when I came back upstairs there it was.
A Search and Rescue Sea King from 771 Squadron. I have now read in The Cornishman  online newspaper that a man had been found in the water - the article said Prussia Cove, but it seemed to be this side of Cudden Point to me. An update this morning states that it was thought that the gentleman was snorkling for Lobsters - but was found unconcious in the water - unfortunately he has since died.
It looks like the gentleman was a holidaymaker staying at a nearby campsite.
This seemed to be the area it kept coming back to - I assume that by the time I started taking photo they had already sent the Winchman down.
They kept circling - waiting for the signal to go back down
Eventually down it came
Certainly looks like its this side of Cudden Point
I'd got rather cold & damp out on the balcony and came inside and missed them leaving.

  1. Hi Sue
I was able to watch the aerial part of the rescue through the 'scope. It was below Acton Castle so the casualty must have been air-lifted from Stackhouse Cove, very much this side of Cudden Point. So sad about the outcome.

    1. Thanks for that - sorry I missed your comment yesterday.
I was pretty sure that they went down this side of the ridge of Cudden Point. Very sad that so many people tried to hard to save him all to no avail. Sue
