We had originally planned to go to this Steam and Country Fair at Stithians on Saturday, but the forecast was for heavy rain, so we went on Friday - sadly they should warn you that you only get half a fair on Friday - as lots of the cars and other exhibits were not there - due to it being a work day.
We wanted to go, since Wooster had become really nervous at the St Buryan Rally a few weeks ago and we felt that some training was needed to help him get over his recent unusual behaviour.
Armed with my faithful Rescue Remedy mouth spray, which helps - if needed, and some pieces of sausage to use as tit-bits off we went.
An old photograph of the reason that Steam Rallies are so popular here in Cornwall as well as producing steam engines to pump the water out of the many mines in Cornwall Richard Trevithick also produced this engine -Sadly the work of Trevithick was soon superseded by that of James Watt & George Stephenson and he died in poverty
Really enjoyed viewing....wonderful pieces of machinery(not sure if that is the right terminology for a steamroller!)We could have done with one when they repaired a hole in our road.... in the absence of a steamroller they just kept driving their truck over the filled in hole !! Poor Wooster I would have needed a bit of his spray too !thanks Sue,....was going to garden but it's just started to rain ! macca
ReplyDeleteJust managed to get the dogs out before the real rain came - just a few spots whilst we were out this morning, but it's been either rain or now misty drizzle all day since then - so Jim's just got back from the woods with a couple of slightly damp but happy dogs ! Sue
