Still a bit windy, but very pleasant in the sunshine
For those who are wondering how the new Salisbury's is doing - it's very very big, and there are no longer going to be trees between the store and the road - so they obviously cut up the trees and put them on the front instead - thus upholding my opinion, that put a timber frontage on any new building plans and they will be passed !
I think Cornwall County Planners are passing anything right now. Mawnan has had two questionable building projects passed - one abandoned mid project from lack of sales, and now the 45 home development at the village entrance is being pushed through after being downsized from a much larger one.
ReplyDeleteAll this infilling and building on agricultural land is very annoying.
I agree, I think it's because the government keeps saying that more houses are needed, but unfortunately the ones proposed are totally inappropriate for the area and the facilities they would need. It was so much better when there was a more local element to these decisions.
DeleteOn the bright side...they may allow the yellow lines at the start of the village? Sainsbury's is huge. It looks bigger than the one here in Livingston and the two I know of in Edinburgh. When we're down next year it will be Morrison's or Tesco for us. If locals don't use them, they'll feel the pinch and to be fair Sainsbury's is so much more expensive.
ReplyDeleteIt's the fact that Sainbury's is thought of as more expensive that made it strange that they wanted to build here in West Cornwall where it is percieved to be a very low income area. Morrisons seems to be the local favourite if cars in the car park are anything to go by !
DeleteSpotted that Jim(I think) has given the cottage a coat of paint as we walked past m(Needed sunglasses on to look at it !)
