Earlier I had spotted on the AIS that the tug Christine was coming round Lands End and when I got home from Penzance there she was - and I could see through the 'scope that she was towing the Paddle Steamer Medway Queen on her way back to her home port of Gillingham from Avonmouth
Jim took these two photos through the 'scope - such a pity we didn't get a better view of her.
Take a look at Chris Jones blog http://channelimages.blogspot.co.uk/
to see some super photos of her leaving Avonmouth
Well don Sue! So pleased the weather turned good for them. Making great time too!
ReplyDeleteJust after midnight and she's just South of Bridport and doing 6.2knots - so still going well - it's a long haul ! Sue
ReplyDeleteWow, this is great to see. Safe sailing the rest of the way.
ReplyDeleteShe's just passed Eastbourne at around 17.30 - she's much closer to the shore now - out of the scary shipping lanes as she makes her way past Dover.
DeleteReally great to see her - even though it was a distant view ! Sue
Lovely! I have photos of my mother and my godmother on the Medway Queen when they were in their twenties - both were horribly sea sick from just being in the Thames estuary.
ReplyDeleteWow ! fancy that ! I think if your prone to sea-sickness then it can get you before you even leave the dock ! Such a pity as I bet it was a wonderful trip !
DeleteDid you take a look at the Channel Images website - she looks much better on there ! Sue
