Afternoon walkies

It was still very windy as we set off for the afternoon walk and it seemed to be getting worse as we made our way through the village and out to Boat Cove Lane - when we got home I checked Lands End Weather  and there had been a gust of over 70mph - no wonder we were struggling to walk.
It was beginning to look very threatening, so we didn't go quite as far as we had intended
I really didn't want to get caught in another hail shower like I had this morning
A really wind blown sea
The wind has been over 70mph since then, but at least it's from the West, so not as noisy as I sit here in the lounge - in yet another power cut, we had two overnight, and it's just gone off again, thank heavens for the lap top and my trusty Vodaphone Broadband dongle.
I've given up on putting all the clock right on the various appliances only for it to go off again  - Jim is fast asleep on the sofa as hasn't noticed it's all dark and quiet !

  1. My goodness that is quite a gust. Now I'm worrying if the power cuts are widespread as I have a very shaky line going to the cottage. At least the builder starts on Monday so he will notice if the power hasn't reset and the heaters are cold - sometimes happens I'm afraid. This winter seems like an endurance test for everyone in southern England.

    1. There does seems to be power problems down here in West Cornwall, don't know about the Mawnan area - do hope that everything is OK The good thing is that it's still not been particularly cold.
Our problems pale into insignificance when you look at the floods on the Somerset Levels and other places - and the loss of the direct railway connection to London could be the ruin of some businesses if they don't sort it fairly quickly.

  2. I have seen the troubles in the Somerset levels and the line at Dawlish as we have BBC World News at 6pm every weekday. The loss of the rail line must affect a lot of things - how about post being slower too coming from upcountry?

    1. Think the post comes by road these days. Sadly there has now been a landslip at Crewkerne,West of Yeovil, which means the journey West has got even worse as you can't even get to Exeter now. Looking a the forecast for the next week there is no let up on the cards, although there will be a little less wind for a few days - then another big one at the end of the week. Comical to think that we're getting so used to it that a days with 30-40mph gusts seems like a good day !
