I walked a little further West along the footpath to take a look at the waves out at Trewavas Head - it was really very windy up there
Splashing up near t he Engine House of the old Trewavas Mine
Too cold there to stay long and far too much spray on the lens again !
I called my friend in Mawnan this morning and heard it had been a wild night, but obviously so much worse on the coast. The seas look so wild at Porthleven that I can imagine the baulks could not withstand the pounding. Such a shame about people having their boats sunk though.
Yes, the wind came straight into Mount's Bay yesterday - truly ferocious. So much damage all around the coast in the SW. I gather from Mike that 2 baulks were broken in Mousehole, but the rest held. Not sure if the Friday/Saturday storm will be as bad - originally they had said it would be worse - yikes !
They are amazing photos Sue. Can't imagine how it would feel living in those homes along the cliff side. Thank you for sharing. Hope no lives lost. Take care. Betty
Porthleven has had a huge amount of sea defence work done - not pretty, but it does seem to cope with those giant waves. Sadly this time it was the massive wind that drove the seas into the harbour and did the damage. Most of the boats are now on dry land, since they would be far too exposed for the rest of the Winter. As far as I've heard no lives have been lost - sdaly it's been the flooding and loss of property that has been the main result. Sue
